There was some disagreement between the broadcast team and Don Cherry on the Milan Lucic/Colton Orr fight.

Cherry says Lucic quit and hid behind the linesman.  What do you think?

Cherry loves his Canadian boys especially tough guys. In fact, he lauded Team Canada inviting Lucic to the camp, although he clearly did not make the team. So for Cherry to rip into Lucic like he did, he obviously saw somethings that he thought were disgraceful…And sorry to say, he is 100% right. It is clear Lucic gave up in the fight after getting tagged, and did not want to continue. He did in fact say something to the ref and he did in fact hide behind the linesman when Orr was still trying to get at him… There is a reason why Lucic picks his spots and usually does not fight the top tough guys, and this was the reason. So yes, Cherry was 100% right and if you cannot see that then you all need to take off your black and gold glasses…GO Bs!!

I was at the game Lucic looked like he took a couple and had enough. Orr wanted to keep going,Lucic looked at the ref to break it up Orr hit him two more times.Lucic was just hanging on looking for the ref to get between them.Lucic skated straight to the locker room with 6 plus min left in the period.Lucic fought hard was gassed took a good one after a pretty long fight had enough ,I would not say he quit.

so because you were at the game so you know he talked tot the refs, good thing it’s the linesan and not the refs, seeing you know so much about hockey. where were your seats right in center ice. were you holding a mic?

Looch didnt seem to have a problem continuing when he fought Harrison from Carolina and had him beaten. It would have been more respectful if he turtled. But to quit? Maybe people are right that he only picks on guys smaller than him. It was a pussy move. It is the epitomy of what is wrong with this team. Cherry was right, if you can’t score you have to hit; if you can’t hit you have to score. Claude has clearly lost his way with this team and does not know how to push the right button.

What’s disgraceful about this Lucic quitting incident is the entire Bruins broadcast team being at odds with a fairly sound, almost un-biased assessment of the fight. All this just minutes after Edwards was ranking on Kessel’s only fight this year being a “hugfest”.
Bruins employee of the month award needs to be divided up amongst, Edwards, Brickley, Milbury and Tappen, this March.

The officials were letting them have at it even after they pushed away from each other which seems kind of rare in most cases. You wouldn’t think Lucic would push away like that to let the linesmen in the break it up but after you see him backing away towards one linesman you can tell he did call it quits. I guess after a while the thought crossed Lucic’s mind that the fight would be broken up, after that he was more expecting it to end instead of focusing on the task at hand with the usual reckless abandon that we’re used to seeing from him. All this to say, yeah he threw in the towel but so what, it takes guts to go after a heavyweight like Orr and stand your ground. Even if he did lose a battle it doesn’t mean he’s any less of a fighter. I mean it could be worse, he could be Phil Kessel.

I’m starting to wonder if Julien’s effectiveness is gone. I think he’s a great coach, but this team isn’t responding with enough emotion and confidence. Watch practically any game from last year and you’ll see an attitude that’s long gone. I expected a hell of a lot more production from Wheeler, Krejci, and Ryder. Wheeler and Krejci are just plain snakebitten and will be much better players next year, but the killer instinct and chemistry of this team now sucks!

Okay I am a displaced Bruins fan since I was a kid. I’ve watched this team for many years and at the moment it is tough to wear the Black & Gold. Why, because it feels like this team has no passion, no heart, no desire to win. I can accept bad trades, dry spells, odd bounces, missed calls by blind ref’s and all the things that occur to the B’s in a regular season. But to sit here and watch them take to the ice night after night with empty eyes and no hunger is almost more than I can bear. Lucic quit, we all saw it. I don’t doubt he’s hurting, I don’t doubt his guts for standing against someone as bad-ass as Colton Orr but let’s be real, he wanted nothing to do with Orr about 20 seconds into the fight when he took that hellacious shot on the bridge of his nose.
The team right now, like Lucic last night, thinks it can handle a situation, gets tagged and then wants out. Some how these guys need to rekindle their passion. Some how we the fans have to let them know that its a privilage to wear the Black and the Gold and if they’re not ready to do so, we can find someone else who will.

all you guys that say lucic quit are idiots, lucic waved his hands to orr to come onwatch the video. everyone is pissed because he is having a bad season. if this was last year and it happened this would never of been said by fans. you guys are not true bruins fans. lucic never quit and would never quit, he is not that type of kid, did he want it to end sure but he was willing to keep going. you guys are completely clueless though, and of course do what cherry says, think like cherry because you can’t think for yourself, everything grapes says is right? wrong? the real fans and people that actually have a clue disagree with grapes

you guys are idiots and are bitter, he was never hidding behing the refs. he never quit. the kid is still probably injured and playing at like 60%, i wanna see you guys go out there and it, he never got his ass beat it was a close fight. yeah he got tagged so didn’t orr, to say your bruins fans i think your the disgrace and not him. when he is hitting people and fighting scoring everyone loves him, but when he isn’t playing well you guys want him gone and can’t stand him. this is the problem with wannabe bruins fans, you have no loyalty

Lucic broke his nose and asked the ref to stop the fight. Continuing to take hits to a broken nose could have led to much more serious damage and more time on the shelf. Perhaps you guys think that would have been a better move? I doubt you will see him fighting for awhile now.
