The MLB Trade Deadline has passed. The Red Sox made a pair of minor moves. RP Ramon Ramirez has been sent to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Daniel Turpen. Ramirez made 44 appearances for Boston this season, tossing 44.1 innings posting an 0-3 record and 4.46 ERA.more

The Red Sox have designated OF Jeremy Hermida for assignment. The former Marlin was hitting .203 with 5 HR and 27 RBI in 53 games played. He was just 2-20 since coming off the DL. OF Ryan Kalish and RP Dustin Richardson are on their way to Fenway from Pawtucket, Kalish will replace Hermida in the Sox lineup today vs. Detroit, playing LF and batting 8th. More moves are expected today on the MLB non-waiver trade deadline. more

Patriots wide-receiver David Patten announced his retirement today at a press conference in Foxboro. The Patriots signed Patten this off-season, though Patten previously played four seasons in New England winning three Super Bowls. Patten began his NFL career in 1997 with the New York Giants and played for five different NFL franchises.
